JavaScript Job: Research Engineer II

Summary / Role Purpose

The R&D Engineer will contribute to the development of a new web-based, collaborative systems engineering solution extending Ansys' Medini, Scade and ModelCenter product lines. This work will be based on an innovative modeling framework, modern web technologies such as Spring Boot, HTML/CSS, J2CL, Angular and integrations with Ansys' core products. He/She will also contribute to the development of a model repository framework in collaboration with other Ansys product teams. The R&D Engineer will contribute to the design, and development of new features. The solution will be used by the Ansys customers to design next generation Systems in the most innovative industries (Automotive, A&D, Energy, ...).

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs moderately complex development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and sub-systems
• Understands and employs best practices
• Performs moderately complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions
• Understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues
• Works under the general supervision of a development manager

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

• BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 2 years' experience or MS
• Professional software development experience; candidates should be able to demonstrate knowledge of good software design and modern software development methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

• A high level of technical competency in Java and a solid understanding of the EMF (Eclipse Modeling Framework) and / or the Spring framework
• Candidates should be able to demonstrate that they can write clean, maintainable code
• Experience in the following would be advantageous (but are not requirements): Profiling and optimization, JavaScript / TypeScript, HTML / CSS, PostgreSQL
• Experience in a large-scale commercial software development environment
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
